  • The cellulose is fastly attacked by the above microbes which splits the cellulose in cellobiose.
  • Cellobiose in the presence of enzyme secreted by microbes changed into glucose.
  • Glucose is metabolized by microbes in the presence of enzymes, aerobically & anaerobically to produce CO2, H2O & other organic acids.

 

Reactions:

Cellulose —cellulase —> cellobiose

Cellobiose— β-gulcosidase—> Glucose molecules

Glucose molecules –> respiratory CO2 + H2O + organic acid
