Leadership

– Leadership is helping the individuals or groups to accomplish organizational goals.

– The function of direction may also be described in broader terms as the task of making the organization take on life, creating the conditions that make interest in the job, vigour of action, imaginative thinking and continuous team work.

– Successful manager must have a leadership style and capability that allows them to modify their management patterns to fit the changing times.

 

            The following changes can be observed according to the dynamic working conditions of the manager in the business.

 

a) Strong leadership——-group leadership

b) Arbitrary rewards—–planned rewards

c) No participation——meaningful participation

d) Absolute power——-diluted power

e) Rigid organization—-flexible organization

f) Thing oriented——-people oriented

 

Characteristics of good leadership

a) A good manager today must help subordinates to find the satisfaction and to identify themselves with their jobs and with the organization.

b) He must recognize the usefulness of human behavioral principles but he must also recognize that there are other objectives in running a business besides having happy, satisfied employees.
