Environmental temperature vis-a-vis chicken reaction

  • 650F to 800F- the desirable temperature
  • 810F to 850F- Feed consumption drops, irregular variation in egg production, shell quality and feed conversion.
  • 860F to 950F – For each degree rise in temperature above 850 F, chicken could eat roughly 2-3 % less feed. The condition affects significantly on egg size, number and shell quality.
  • 960F to 1000F – The wings may hang side wise loosely in relaxed posture. Emergency measures must be considered otherwise, all chances are there for heat stroke and collapse of the birds.
  • 1010F and above- The temperature is often referred to as ‘lethal’ or killing temperature. The chickens pass into a state of shock culminating in death.
