Environmental temperature vis-a-vis chicken reaction

• 65⁰F to 80⁰F- the desirable temperature
• 81⁰F to 85⁰F- Feed consumption drops, irregular variation in egg production, shell quality and feed conversion.
• 86⁰F to 95⁰F – For each degree rise in temperature above 85⁰ F, chicken could eat roughly 2-3 % less feed. The condition affects significantly on egg size, number and shell quality.
• 96⁰F to 100⁰F – The wings may hang side wise loosely in relaxed posture. Emergency measures must be considered otherwise, all chances are there for heat stroke and collapse of the birds.
• 101⁰F and above- The temperature is often referred to as ‘lethal’ or killing temperature. The chickens pass into a state of shock culminating in death.
