Steaming up

Feeding a dry especially in preparation for calving is term as “steaming up”. For this purpose cow must be fed 0.15 kg DCP and 0.45kg SE

 

Advantages of steaming up

  • Increase daily milk yield
  • Slightly lengthen the period of lactation
  • Promotes mammary tissue
  • Slightly increase the butter fat per cent
  • Increase the body reserve
