Managing mental care of dry but pregnant cow

  • Keep her in separate stall from other animals
  • Liberally fed and kindly treated
  • Avoid rough handling as abusing, kicking etc spoils temperament of cow which once formed is difficult to eradicate.
  • She must not be taken for walk to long distance
  • She should not be frightened or allowed to fight with other animals.
  • 15 days prior to calving she must be isolated and housed in calving box
  • Offer water at least twice a day for drinking and groomed daily
  • Provide limited amount of exercise to maintain better appetite.
