Factors affecting seed quality

  1. Genetic factors (decline due to genetic drift, varietal characteristics alter due to G x E, chromosomal aberrations, mutations)
  2. Ecological factors (environment prevailing during seed formation, maturation including soil, light, temperature, wind, rain and pest and pathogen)
  3. Agronomic package and production technology (seed source, isolation, rouging, weed mgmt., nutrient and water mgmt., plant protection)
  4. Harvesting and post-harvest handling (threshing, processing, treatment, storage)
