Composition:
- enzymes(Trypsinogen, chymotrypsinogen, carboxypeptidase, trypsin, amylase, lipase)
- Alkaline fluid
Function
- Breakdown of carbohydrate, protein, fat; thus help in digestive function
- It is alkaline in nature thus neutralize HCl from chyme entering the duodenum.
- It releases insulin and glucagon. Excess glucose is converted into glycerol.
Regulation
- Pancreatic juice is produced in pancreas.
- Acinar cell of pancreas synthesize and secrets fluids into duct.
- This fluid gets modified and drop in duodenum.
- When acidic chyme is entered into duodenum, that fluid get stimulated. That fluid is hormone i.e. secretin and cholecystokinin.
- This pancreatic juice is alkaline in nature as it contains bicarbonate.
- Pancreatic enzymes are originated from acinal cells and bicarbonate from duct cells.
- bicarbonate: neutralize the acidic chyme
- Enzyme: Breakdown carbohydrate, protein, fat.
