Reflex action

• Quick and unconscious movement in response to stimuli
• Path followed to complete reflex action is called Reflex arc.

Reflex action involved following steps:

• Receptor or sensory neuron in cutaneous carry impulse towards CNS.
• This impulse is received through posterior horn of spinal cord.
• Now, interneuron sensed impulse and perceives the situation.
• This nerve impulse from interneuron is received by motor neuron through anterior horn.
• Motor impulse is sent to effector organ and response accordingly.
