Protection mechanism of eye

Eyes itself protect by following mechanism:

a. Eyelid movement

• Mediated by striated and smooth muscles of eye.
• Movements involved are: ocular opening, gentle opening/closing, blinking.
• Distribute and conduct the tear.

b. Tear production and crying:

• Tear covering surface of eye are secreted from lacrimal gland and conjunctiva in different liquid forms.
• Tear flow occur via evaporation and drainage through nasolacrimal ducts.
• Maintain moisture and keep clear to conjunctiva and cornea.
