Micturition

  • Micturition is also called urination. It is defined as expelling of urine stored in urinary bladder through urethra.
  • Kidney filters urine and ureter transport urine into urinary bladder
  • When bladder get full, its muscle and sphincter relax and urination occurs
  • Governed by nervous and muscular system

It can be explained in two phase:

I. Filling

  • Filling of urine into bladder through ureter
  • No sphincter in ureter, enter bladder obliquely.

 

II. Voiding

  • Expelling of urine stored in bladder.
  • Sphincter and muscle of urethra contract? Relax so that voiding occurs.
