Bile juice

Composition

  • water
  • bile salts
  • bile pigments
  • inorganic salts
  • fats

Function:

  • Help in emulsification, absorption and digestion of fat.
  • Activates the action of lipase.
  • Bile salts acts as bactericides.
  • Neutralizes excess acids before entering ileum.

Regulation:

  • As chyme (acidic) enter duodenum, enteroendocrine cell of duodenum stimulate two hormone namely cholecystokinin and secretin.
  • Secretin: increase bile secretion by liver.
  • CCK: contract gall bladder so that bile get released.
