  • Spinal cord is a long cylindrical and tubular structure present in the cavity of vertebral column
  • Contains cavity at centre called Central canal which is connected with 4th ventricle of Medulla oblongata.
  • Grey matter is distributed at centre and white matter at periphery.
  • Dorsal elongation of grey matter is called Dorsal horn and ventral elongation is called Ventral horn.
  • Contains ascending and descending tract. Ascending tract conduct impulse to brain and descending tract conduct from brain to spinal cord.
  • Main site of Reflex action.
