Receiving feedback

  1. Listening carefully: it is good idea for the receiver to test his/her understanding of the feedback by restraining it to the audience
  2. Trying not to defensive: the skillful receivers of feedback hears the message with an open mind trying to understand it rather than to form a rebuttal
  3. Gathering additional information to verify the feedback: the receiver can seek information from other sources and can observe his/her own behavior and other reactions to it.
  4. Seeking feedback: feedback is essential both to problem solving and personal growth
