Personality
- Personality can be defined as a dynamic and organized set of characteristics possessed by a person that uniquely influences his or her cognitions, motivations, and behaviors in various situations (Ryckman, 2004).
Motivation
- Motivation is the process of initiating a conscious and purposeful action. It may be intrinsic or extrinsic.
Emotions
- Emotion is an umbrella term representing various feelings of anger, impulses, fear, disgust, repulsion, etc.
- It is determined by human behaviour. Emotion is a reaction involving subjective feelings, physiological response, cognitive interpretation and behavioural expression (Gerow).
- Epinephrine (adrenalin), a hormone produced by the adrenal glands are involved in emotional activity, mostly affecting heart activity.
Classification of emotions (according to Wilhelm Wumdt):
- Pleasant/ unpleasant
- Relaxation/ tension
- Calm/ excitement
Attitude
Attitude is a way of thinking, feeling and behaving about something or someone. It may be positive, negative or neutral.
