Political institution: Government
- The political institution is the system of norms values, and roles which defines and locates the ultimate authority in a society and agencies through which that authority established.
- Political institutions are necessary for the individual whose survival and socialization require norms that are publicly supported and enforced. Political institutions are also necessary for the welfare of the society as a whole.
Function of government
- Formalizing the norms of the society
- Administering sanctions to those who violates the law
- Setting conflict within the society
- Providing service for the members of the society
- Protecting the society and its members in international relations
